(PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- Chimani announced today the release of its newest and first state park app, Chimani Baxter State Park - a complete resource for visitors to the park. The Chimani Baxter State Park app allows visitors to better plan for their trips, navigate within the park, discover to new experiences, and socialize with friends.
The app features over 270 points of interest throughout the park, a GPS-enabled high-resolution hiking map, an augmented reality viewer to learn more about the surrounding environment, 73 hiking trail descriptions, over 85 photographs, sunrise/sunsets data for over a year, and details on camping, parking, picnicking, and swimming.
Users can use the app to plan hikes, review key safety information, and access a complete list of facilities including locations of all the campgrounds and picnic areas in the park.
Like the various national park apps that Chimani has already developed, the Baxter app boasts a rich and impressive map that is custom-made, GPS-enabled, includes every hiking trail in the park, and displays interactive points of interest. Unlike most apps, the map works without the need for a cell or data connection and is specifically designed for the mobile app platform.
Users rave about the ability to follow their progress using the GPS feature, even when cell coverage fails or isn't available at all. "Like all the features of this app, you don't need cell access to unleash its full capabilities. Whether you are trying to find the closest trailhead or are looking for the next picnic area on the Tote Road, you'll always be able to enjoy the full experience of the app," says Chimani’s CEO, Kerry Gallivan.
"Our users praise the simple design of Chimani apps and how they compliment the outdoor experience," says Gallivan. "The Baxter app is no different – it’s designed to enhance your experience and grow your appreciation of Baxter State Park, while providing key navigation and informational details. I have hiked in Baxter every summer for the past 6 years and I have barely scratched the surface of the numerous trails and adventures one can have,” says Gallivan.
The new app is free and can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes App Store or Google Play (keyword: "chimani"). The Chimani’s augmented reality viewer, called Viewport, is an $1.99 in-app purchase.
The Chimani Baxter State Park app is the latest in a series of mobile apps by Chimani, designed to enhance outdoor experiences. Other apps include 14 of the most visited U.S. National Parks including Acadia National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park and the Cape Cod National Seashore. All are available in Apple’s iTunes AppStore, Google Play, and Amazon’s AppStore.
