If you’re looking for a modern take on the dowdy skirt-suit from 1988’s Working Girl, take a cue from Bella Hadid. The model updated the cubicle-friendly style in a flirty way: a jacquard short-shorts and blazer set by Anaïs Jourden along with a cartoon-emblazoned Prada purse. To further hone in on the 9-to-5 angle, she sported a pair of clunky-chic white vegan sneakers by Rombaut and pulled-up athletic socks. A great casual touch: She wore a Li-Ning white T-shirt boasting an image of the Olympic gold medal–winning gymnast turned designer Li-Ning himself, who founded the namesake label in 1990. (A fun coincidence? The label is showing tomorrow in Paris.)

While not everyone will wear shorts to the office, the updated look of executive realness has been making the rounds on the runway. For Spring 2018, Eckhaus Latta sent out a bold-shouldered suit of mafia proportions, Sies Marjan churned out a gold foil belted blazer and matching cropped pant, and Alexander Wang opted for a zippable, slouchy suit. Looks like Hadid’s very cool and promotion-deserving look is right in step with the current trend.
