Starbucks Closing Downtown Moncton Location
MONCTON – Starbucks is permanently closing its location on 721 Main St. this month, the company confirmed Wednesday.
“We have taken great care to ensure our partners (employees) have been provided with options, including redeployment to another store where possible,” Starbucks Canada spokesperson Carly Suppa-Clark told Huddle in an e-mail.
“We have begun our accelerated store transformation to best meet our customers where they are now, which means we will close some stores and open more next year, the majority of which will be drive-thru. We remain open in neighbouring locations and look forward to serving our customers at those stores.”
Starbucks has three other locations in Moncton, and another three in Dieppe. Suppa-Clark says they will remain open.
Starbucks closed most of its company-operated locations in Canada, and cut services to drive-thru, delivery and take-out only.
In April, Starbucks Canada president Lori Digulla announced that many of the closed stores would start resuming operations in May, starting with drive-thru, delivery and pick-up services only.
“From there, we will monitor and adjust our operations, making decisions to open additional stores or expand services (like curbside pick-up or walk-in orders) on a community-by-community basis working closely with local leadership, health authorities and provincial governments as the environment and regulations change,” Digulla said in a press release.
