Much ado has been made about artificial intelligence in recent weeks, largely due to the rise of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, Microsoft's (MSFT) investment in the company and subsequent integration of ChatGPT into its products, as well as Google's (GOOG) (GOOGL) upcoming AI-focused event and its investments in the space.
Count Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook among those who think the technology is likely to change our lives.
"It [artificial intelligence] is a major focus of ours," Cook said on the company's first-quarter earnings call in response to a question about the role of AI is playing in the company's strategy. "It's incredible in terms of how it can enrich customers' lives."
Cook pointed to use AI-centric use cases Apple (AAPL) has already incorporated into its products, including crash detection in the iPhone 14 product line, fall detection on the Apple Watch, as well as the implementation of Electrocardiogram, or ECG readings, on the Health app and Apple Watch.
The 62-year-old Cook added that the tech giant sees "enormous potential" for AI to impact "virtually everything we do."
