Watch Amazon’s Oddly Deleted ‘The Boys’ Season 2 Trailer Here

This article is more than 4 years old.

Late yesterday, Amazon posted the first trailer for season 2 of The Boys, then strangely, took it down just a short while later. You can’t find an official trailer for it on YouTube anymore, just a bunch of reaction videos to that trailer, but a two second search of Twitter turns up the spot anyway, because once you put something like that on the internet, it’s not really going to go anywhere.

You can watch the new trailer below here, though I’ll update it with a YouTube link if Amazon decides to put that back online:

I have no idea why Amazon posted this then took it down. Maybe some aspect of it was unfinished and they needed to fix it, but from watching this a few times, I don’t know what that might be, as it looks pretty complete (and pretty hype) to me.

It’s a quick cut trailer with no actual dialogue, just a bunch of wild scenes all strung together quickly. The main moment that stands out to me is a confrontation between Homelander and Starlight, and everything else is kind of going too fast to really know what to make of any of it. Glad to see Giancarlo Esposito is back in hopefully a larger role this season.

The Boys has been a pretty significant critical and audience hit for Amazon, a needed win as Amazon Prime really does not produce all that many significant originals outside of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and a handful of others, at least not compared to rivals like Hulu, Netflix or HBO. I previously called The Boys the best superhero show on TV, and I stand by that. It’s an impressive feat, given that it’s completely outside the traditional Marvel/DC hero loop, though it takes obvious inspiration from the Justice League, as does the original graphic novel it’s based on. Homelander is genuinely one of the most terrifying TV villains in existence right now, Superman without any semblance of moral compass. If you haven’t watched season one, I highly recommend you give it a look.

We do not have a specific date for season 2’s return in this trailer. It only says 2020, and considering it ran in late July of last year, I wouldn’t expect it to return any time before that, possibly not even until the fall.

It’s easily one of my most anticipated second seasons in a long while, as I want to see how it builds on the first, and given that I haven’t read any of the comics, I have no idea what’s coming. Definitely check it out if you haven’t yet.
