Charlize Theron movie The Old Guard has proved to be pretty popular with Netflix viewers, becoming the streamer's biggest title over the summer.

The action thriller managed to reach 78 million households in its first four weeks over the summer quarter, according to the site (via Variety).

That's ahead of the likes of Project Power, starring Jamie Foxx, which hit 75 million households in the same time frame and The Kissing Booth 2 at 66 million.

Millie Bobby Brown movie Enola Holmes, meanwhile, is predicted to reach 76 million in its first four weeks, just shy of The Old Guard's record – though could be subject to change in the final tally.

However, it is worth noting that these figures are provided by Netflix themselves, and are recorded based off a minimum of two minutes viewing time.

On top of that, new Ryan Murphy series Ratched recently set a new record for the site, becoming the most viewed debut season of 2020.

The Sarah Paulson-starring series was watched by 48 million households in its first 28 days. While pretty impressive numbers, it's just shy of The Witcher's biggest ever debut record, which was watched by 76 million households when it launched last year.

Meanwhile, The Old Guard comic book creator Greg Rucka confirmed back in August that "discussions" had taken place about a possible movie sequel.

The Old Guard is available now on Netflix.
