‘Behind the Lens’ is a New Photography Miniseries from Sigma

Sigma has launched a new three-part photography mini-series on YouTube that is similar to the format of Gone Fishing, but features Joe Cornish and Colin Prior, what the company says are considered two of the great British landscape photographers of all time.

“We don’t believe anyone has ever made a TV-style program for photography quite like this before, so it’s a really exciting thing, and super-entertaining,” Sigma U.K. tells PetaPixel.

The company says both Cornish and Prior have achieved a huge amount in their careers and enjoy a solid following in the photo community. The photos in this story were taken by the duo as part of their work for the video miniseries.

“Go behind the lens with British landscape legends Colin Prior and Joe Cornish as they explore the wild scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Find out how Colin and Joe approach wide-angle and telephoto landscapes, what lenses they like to use, and what they think of each others’ work,” the company continues.

“We have them on film together for the first time in this first series, out together exploring the wild landscapes of the Scottish Highlands.”

Cornish is perhaps best known for his large-format landscape photos and has been actively practicing his art since 1982. He has photographed the North Yorkshire landscape for over 20 years and continues to focus his lens around the British isles as well as overseas.

Prior is also a renowned landscape photographer and has typically focused his attention on the Scottish highlands in recent years, though his early career saw him traveling extensively as he worked for different advertising and design agencies looking for distinctive lifestyle and leisure photos.

He has published numerous fine art books, his most recent in 2021 titled The Karakoram, which focuses on an ice mountain in Pakistan that is the most glaciated region on the planet outside of Antarctica and the Arctic.
