Many of us would love to have long, flowing locks of hair, but unfortunately, this can be easier said than done when you aren't blessed with particularly fast-growing hair. Luckily, there are a few tried and trusted ways to give the appearance of having longer hair, even if you're currently struggling to get it past your shoulders.

A haircut known as the 'c-cut' - or 'curve cut' - has gone viral, made up of flattering layers of Cs being cut around a person's face. A number of stylists swear by this nostalgic look if you want your hair to appear much longer than it actually is.

It may, however, look rather familiar to fans of classic 90s sitcoms.

Yes, the style has its origins in the iconic and instantly recognisable 'Rachel cut' of the Friends era, sported by Jennifer Aniston in her most famous role. With 90s fashions having recently made a huge comeback, it would seem that many fashionistas are also opting for retro cuts in the salon chair.

Speaking with Real Simple, hair stylist Jamie Wiley explained that the shorter layers of this cut frame a person's face, while the rest of the layers lengthen towards the bottom of the hair, resulting in an elegant curve that resembles the letter C.

Wiley told the publication: "This curved shape gives the impression of longer hair because the hair appears to flow smoothly and seamlessly, without any harsh lines or choppy layers that can make the hair look shorter."

It's understood that this chic style is actually very easy to maintain, and will just need a regular trim to keep the ends nice and sharp. It also works for a wide variety of different hair types, including straight hair, curls, waves, coily hair, and locs.

This comes after an expert shared some of the foods to eat if you're hoping to grow your hair longer.

Susie Hammond, a trichologist at the Philip Kingsley Clinic in London, claims complex carbs and proteins are the biggest things that will help.

Good examples of complex carbs include wholegrain rice and pasta, wholegrain bread, sweet potatoes are also a good one as well as porridge oats.

And for protein, you can go for eggs, smoked salmon, nut butters, and greek yoghurt.
