Apple released a new firmware update for the AirPods 2 and the AirPods Pro, namely, the firmware version 2C54. Earlier, the AirPods Pro were using firmware version 2B588, while the AirPods 2 were previously using 2A364. Now although the update is out, applying the newly released an update to the AirPods is not easy and it needs the support of an iPhone to update itself. So, in case you’re wondering how to do it, follow the steps as mentioned below (via IBTimes).

-- Firstly, bring your iPhone near the Apple AirPods Pro and pair the both together. You need to make sure that the earpieces are out of the charging case.
--Once the two are paired together, go to settings app on your iPhone and proceed to general options.
--You’ll then find the ‘about’ menus inside the General options and you’ll find the AirPods information that’s needed to update the device. You can also perform the update check on an iPad tablet.
-- Lastly, you scroll down, spot the AirPods options and check if the AirPods have got the latest 2C54 update.
Apple hasn’t released any official patch notes or details surrounding the firmware update 2C54. Moreover, this update is exclusive to AirPods Pro only and the previous generation AirPods don’t have this update.
