A ROYAL expert has said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "clearly" not making a UK return this Christmas amid the release of their controversial big-money Netflix doc.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle look set to snub King Charles' "olive branches" and remain in the US over the holiday season.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “He’s clearly not going to come home for Christmas and I’m sure Charles will be very upset by that and the fact that his olive branches have been rejected.

“It would have been extremely difficult for Harry to rip up his Netflix contract and lose millions of dollars but that’s what he should have done to mend the relationship with his dad.”

The couple's £88million Netflix show looks set to dive into the Sussexes' "love story", and will reportedly hit screens on December 8.

  • The Crown’s iconic theme tune remixed by music legends Faithless

The critically acclaimed Netflix drama is known for its iconic theme tune.

Now, Netflix have called upon Faithless to put their stamp on the classical piece as The Crown moves into the 1990s.

The Crown's main theme is a three-minute sonic journey that harks back to the sounds of 90s' dance floors.

Faithless’ Sister Bliss said: "I could hear in my head how this mix could work around Hans Zimmer’s iconic and dramatic strings.

"I dug around in the vaults and found lots of sounds and samples we actually saved from the 1990s when we were making our albums.

"I thought 'these are genuinely good', so I loaded them up for this remix of Hans Zimmer’s score.

“We wanted this to be unapologetically Faithless and use some of the very original sounds that myself and Rollo made together.”

The track debuted on Radio 2’s Zoe Ball Breakfast Show this morning, and an accompanying video to the track has been released.

The carol service will see Westminster Abbey filled with beautiful festive decorations, providing the perfect Christmas backdrop for the world-renowned Abbey Choir to perform some of the nation’s favourite carols.

A number of musical performances and poignant readings will also be delivered by a range of special guests.

  • Harry and Meg to go head to head with Will and Kate as royals head to the USA

Prince Harry & Meghan will go head-to-head with Wills & Kate in a “popularity contest” as the two couples head to the US this week.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to travel to the US for a series of engagements just days before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend a glitzy award bash.

But contrary to reports that the Cambridges won’t be “distracted” by the Duke and Duchess while in the US, a royal expert believes the two couples will compete in a popularity contest – despite no plans to meet stateside.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton said: “The royal family are a competitive bunch, they always have been and always will be.

“Prince William is the future king, Prince Harry no longer has a royal role. But nonetheless, they wi”ll be looking at the optics to see who had the biggest crowds, who had the most column inches and if they tell you otherwise, don’t believe them.”

  • When is the Royal Christmas Carol Service on ITV?

The Prince and Princess of Wales have announced that there will be another Royal Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey.

This special festive concert will be held on December 15, 2022, but will not be aired on TV until Christmas Eve.

ITV will once again air this very special festive event.

The time slot is still to be confirmed.

Speaking of the concert, the broadcaster said: "The Princess of Wales will return to Westminster Abbey to host a special Christmas carol service on Thursday 15th December.

"It will recognise the selfless efforts of individuals, families and communities across the UK, and highlight the remarkable impact that coming together to support others can have for us all.''

In 2021 the BBC were banned from airing the service as Kate and William were furious with the broadcaster over a documentary on Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, and wife Meghan Markle.

  • King Charles ‘sure’ to have offered Prince Harry an olive branch ahead of Christmas

A royal expert has said they are “sure” King Charles has offered Prince Harry a route back into the Royal Family ahead of the festive season.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Charles has already offered an olive branch to Harry by mentioning him in his first-ever address to the nation when he became King.

“I’m sure he’s also offered olive branches privately and I’m sure he’s been invited to Sandringham for the festive season.”

  • What were the Queen's garden parties?

Each year, the late Queen invited over 30,000 guests to spend a summer afternoon in the Buckingham Palace gardens.

Her Majesty hosted three garden parties for people that come from different backgrounds and career paths and had a positive impact on the community.

The gates of the Palace were open to guests from 3pm - but the party really began when The Queen and her husband Prince Philip walked in at 4pm.

Two military bands would make an appearance to play the national anthem as the royal couple walked around the guests and got a chance to speak to Her Majesty and other senior members of the family.

After, the Queen went to the Royal Tea Tent where she spoke to other guests and everyone enjoyed food, drink and strolled around the gardens.

Now that King Charles has taken over the throne, it is not known if the tradition will carry on.

The royal summer calendar is normally out in February but there are doubts about the future of the royal garden parties.

The King is aiming for a slimmed monarchy and is cutting costs to make it more sustainable - so, changes to the parties might be made.

  • GMB viewers choose 'nation’s favourite Christmas carol’ for the royal service

After 24,750 votes the winning carol has been announced this morning.

The public decided that they would love to see ''O Come, All Ye Faithful'' performed at Westminster Abbey on Christmas Eve.

The service will be broadcast on ITV.

  • Are Buckingham Palace gardens open to the public?

Buckingham Palace gardens are not always open to the public.

In the past few years, the palace opened the gardens for those visitors that also had a look around the State rooms.

This kind of tour is mainly open during summer when the weather is nicer and there is less chance of rain.

The gardens are the monarch's private land, and for high-security reasons, only a part of the gardens is open to the public.

For around £20, you can stroll around the south of the gardens, 500 yards far from a new exit at Grosvenor Palace.

You can rest your feet for a bit in a seated area and admire the scenery of a 19th-century lake.

While walking, you'll pass trees that were planted by members of the royal family and can also have a short chat with the gardeners keeping the area clean and flourishing.

A large marquee is erected at the end of the tour, which serves as a gift shop.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to meet President Joe Biden as they attend the Earthshot Awards in Boston this week.

The group pledged to end the "global pandemic" facing women.

  • Prince Harry 'terrified' of losing 'mature, intelligent and ambitious' Meghan - Jane Moore

Prince Harry is fearful of losing his "mature, intelligent and ambitious" wife, says Jane Moore in her latest opinion piece for The Sun.

According to the Loose Women regular, Harry "fell '“perhaps a little over-in-love”' with a woman far more mature, intelligent and ambitious than he is.

"On top of all that, Harry is, what the youth of today refers to as “punching” — as in dating someone whose level of physical attractiveness exceeds their own.

"For no doubt about it, Meghan is stunning. And what’s the betting that Harry still can’t believe his luck that he nabbed the sexy actress from Suits.

"Consequently, he’s terrified of losing her so '“what Meghan wants, Meghan gets”'".

  • Olena Zelenska meets the Queen Consort at Buckingham Palace

Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine, met with Camilla, the Queen Consort, as well as a series of other female world leaders in Buckingham Palace yesterday.

  • Hidden meaning behind Meghan and Harry’s Netflix documentary release date

According to royal experts Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix documentary release date has a secret meaning behind it.

The show, which will give an insight into the Sussexes’ “love story”, will hit screens on December 8.

The couple reportedly asked for the highly anticipated documentary be delayed – putting them at loggerheads with Netflix bosses.

Now royal experts have claimed the streaming giant denied their request for one key reason.

Royal biographer Angela Levin believes Netflix chose the date to make sure it gets better ratings.

Speaking to The Sun she revealed: “I suspect the date is what Netflix wanted. It’s the timing Netflix wanted and needed.

“It may be because it will have allowed royal fans to have finished up watching The Crown.”

The latest season of the hit TV show came out on November 9 – so it means Harry and Meghan’s show is coming out exactly a month later.

Ms Levin explained: “It means fans will have been able to watch two episodes a week of The Crown and have the whole season wrapped up just before Harry and Meghan’s show comes out.

“It means those who are hooked on royal shows will have something new to start right away.”

Sophie, who is married to the King’s brother Prince Edward, recently visited the charity Step by Step.

During her trip, eagle-eyed onlookers quickly spotted the scarlet shade on the 57-year-old’s hands.

“But through that process it also occurred to me, and truth be told at the suggestion of my husband,  that if we really want to shift how we think about gender and the limiting labels that we separate people into, then we have to broaden the conversation.

“And we have to actively include men in that conversation and certainly in that effort.”
