Museum asks people to recreate art from household items while social distancing and it's delightful

Most people are staying at home, but that doesn't mean we can't appreciate good art.

To combat the spread of the coronavirus, the state of California issued a stay at home order last week. That means that all non-essential businesses, including museums, have to close for the foreseeable future. To keep the appreciation for the arts alive, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles asked people to recreate their favorite works of art using household objects.

After all, it's not like anyone was doing anything else during their self-quarantine.

They started with some examples from Getty staff, for inspiration.

Then others submitted their attempts at making art.

One Twitter user incorporated precious resources.

A few Twitter users went above and beyond in their recreations.

Others were more abstract.

Social distancing doesn't mean you can't make art.

So instead of scrolling through Twitter for the fifth time this morning, try making your own recreation. For some inspiration, you can check out the Getty's full catalog of art here.
