Rep. Jim Jordan took to Twitter Monday to urge people to remember the past, prompting scores of replies about things he likely hopes they forget.
Weighing in on the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, the homophobic lawmaker tweeted: “Don’t forget what Democrats did to Brett Kavanaugh.”
Kavanaugh faced questions in 2018 about accusations of sexual assault from his high school and college years, which he heatedly denied. He was confirmed to the Supreme Court in a 50-48 vote.
But commenters seemed less concerned about Kavanaugh being questioned about his alleged assaults than they were with Jordan’s own sketchy past.
How about we take this to the next level?

JimBro can’t remember how many times he spoke with the President during an insurrection, but can somehow remember every moment from a multi day confirmation hearing. Ok then. https://t.co/TpmvgEYTJ1

“Don’t forget what Democrats did to Brett Kavanaugh.”
As I remember it the Democrats wanted an investigation into the various accusations of Kavanaugh’s of sexual misconduct. I am personally 100% on board with Ketanji Brown Jackson getting the same treatment. There should be a complete investigation into any accusations of sexual misconduct on her part. There aren’t any which makes the whole process easier but I’d rather due diligence happen rather than what the Republican’s did with getting Kavanaugh confirmed.
SamB
Cowboy: Bingo. You got it. She has a history of leniency for child s@xual predators. What’s funny is that many are trying to differentiate between physical abuse and those possessing and sharing child P@rn. Those two things are not different.
Eternal.Cowboy
SamB –
Wow. You just equated committing sexual abuse to ruling on a case. Those are not equivalent in any way. Truly disturbing that you would try to make that connection in attempt to smear her.
SamB
Cowboy: I think you’re just trying to be contrary. I’m agreeing with you. She’s soft on child p@rn. Are you against judges being tough on that?
Eternal.Cowboy
I’m not contrary. You tried to draw a direct line between being a sexual predator and being a judge that issues a ruling in a case involving a sexual predator. It was completely vile.
As for her record, I have not dug into it and given your history of making up and misrepresenting things I’m not taking your word on her record. So, nice try on trying to change the subject but I’m taking the bait.
SamB
Cowboy: What line? I’m stating a fact. In a 1996 Harvard Law Review she wrote an article “which was unsigned but subsequently appeared on Jackson’s lists of her publications” where she argued that people possessing child p@rn should get more lenient sentences than those actually performing it and taking the pix. Never mind that demand will greatly increase the demand and the abuse will continue. She also ruled on at least one case with that distinction. If you chose not to find the articles outlining this then that’s on you and you can’t argue against it because you haven’t read it.
Eternal.Cowboy
I googled your claims and the source is a tweet by Sen. Josh Hawley. Not terribly surprised that you see a tweet and as some sort of credible source rather than an actual review of her record. Because of his claim there has been a review of her rulings in these types of cases and her sentencing is completely inline with what federal judges do a whole. So the claim that she is more lenient is objectively false.
Interesting side note. Hawley said he would never vote for a judge that went below the minimum sentencing guidelines but has done it four times to date. In all four cases the judges where men. Sounds like he and you have something him common when it comest having different standards for men and women.
SamB
Cowboy: YOU googled MY sources and decided I’m basing my opinion on a Tweet? Oh boy. I have researched actual articles. I have read all the mainstream.. ABC, MSNBC etc… The Hill is a good balanced source. Reason online is actually trying to argue against Hawley but they actually prove him correct.
You can look up her cases too. United states vs Hawkins and United States vs. Hastings are two cases where her rulings were way way lower than gov. recommended.
One her cases, that you can look up, these cases are not private, she was lenient when someone was caught with child pOrn AND a 9 year old and they were about to cross state lines.
Eternal.Cowboy
Hawley was the origin of the claim.
As I said, her sentencing history of for cases in the class shows that she is completely inline with where federal judges are as a whole. That fact that a review of her full record shows that she is inline with how federal judges sentence is why you have to cherry pick cases and then claim outrage.
The long and the short of it is that you said “She has a history of leniency for child s@xual predators.” It’s an objectively false claim no matter what issues you have with a specific case.
Hawley is a smart guy, he knew he was being dishonest when he tweeted the claim. He also knew there were dupes that would blindly repeat his claim. It’s similar to how the right wing media knew they could dupe people by saying the Durham motion proved Clinton spied on Trump. They seem to get you every time.
SamB
Cowboy: It’s not objectively false. It’s fact. It’s written down and available for everyone to review and see. You can try to argue that she has a reason for doing it, but to state it’s false is absolutely wrong.
Eternal.Cowboy
And yet can cite nothing backs your claim and fall back on cherry picked cases.
I get it, it’s embarrassing that you keep falling of this stuff.
SamB
Cowboy: Yes. I had nothing to back up my claim… except, like you said, the cases I stated, which means NOTHING because I “cherry picked” them. You must be tired after all those mental gymnastics.
Eternal.Cowboy
It’s really easy. Either you can show her sentencing history is atypical or can’t. You can’t. Why? Because it the claim was a lie when Hawley said it and no matter how much you dutifully repeat the lie it remains a lie. No more conversation to be had. Happy trails.

I do love when arm chair judges attempt to pass judgment on decisions made by real judges. I almost always find they never read the trial transcripts, which means their opinion is worthless – or they are repeating what someone told them to say, like the good lap dogs that they are. I have found that each case is unique and that the facts in the case almost always paint a complicated picture with both mitigating and aggravating circumstances. Also, judges are limited by the laws and rule they must follow, even when they find these laws and rules to fit their case badly.
Sadly, these hearings never dig into substance and turn into sound bites. We are poorly served by this process and elected officials.

There were legitimate concerns around Kavanaugh and his past behavior. SCOTUS judges should be above reproach and Kav was not. Jackson has unimpeachable qualities as a jurist. That’s the difference. Kav and Barrett should never have been seated on the Supreme Court.
The Accidental Polemicist
@ZzBomb
In his confirmation hearing, the judicial nominee himself said he had been through “six separate FBI background investigations over 26 years”. For the Supreme Court, it was Kavanaugh’s seventh background check.
What were these “legitimate concerns”? Considering she didn’t know where the party was, whose house, how she got there, how she got home, who was there, etc. The one person she said was there stated she didn’t attend that party. Legitimate concerns? If you want to believe he committed gang rape without absolutely, not one shred of evidence, it says more about you than Justice Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh was picked for one reason – his obvious desire to overturn Roe based on his loudly professed Catholicism. Ms. Jackson has shown no similar predilection to bowing the the hocus pocus of mumbo jumbo religion. The fact he is a drunk who makes really bad person choices were irrelevant to those wanting to pander to their anti-choice base. The republicans needed a clown like Kavanaugh, because most good jurists would not have been so transparently biased by a man in a dress, I mean a priest.

And he forgot that he looked the other way when athletes were being sexually abused

No surprise that Sam is misrepresenting her record as a judge.

What Democrats did to Kavanaugh? You mean turn him into a blind puking drunk when he was a teenager who raped women? Shame on them for doing that to him.
God knows he was the first Supreme Court nominee to boast “He likes Beer” during his confirmation hearing. The phrase ‘Sober as a Judge’ died that day. Along with our Constitution.

Jim Jordan is absolutely correct! Not just Brett Kavanaugh, how about:
Janice Rogers Brown – George W. Bush nominee
Harriet Miers – George W. Bush nominee
Clarence Thomas – George H. W. Bush nominee
Democrats have a long and disgraceful history when it comes to abusing Republican judicial nominees.
