Creative parents turn food into art to 'trick' their kids to eat healthy

If a kid is a picky eater, you know it'll be almost impossible to get them to eat their vegetables no matter how much you beg and plead.

But one way is to make food seem fun and interesting, which is exactly what many parents are doing to make meals more of an occasion rather than a dull routine. Interestingly enough, many of them are also taking to Instagram to share their creations, and boy do some of them look pretty darn amazing.

Take for example, Instagram user @oi_happy_days – a mother from Singapore who took to creating adorable plates for her kid during the Circuit Breaker in Singapore in 2020. Using fresh ingredients like fruits, bread, and jam, she creates food art that oozes cute cartoon vibes.

Another mother from Belgium (@demealprepper) even conducts workshops and even does food plating as a side hustle – no surprise considering how amazing most of her plates look.

Creatively things like rice, pasta, berries, and even colored tortilla wraps, her plates are not only a visual feast, but they're also incredibly nutritious – something understated but incredibly important in the grand scheme of parenting.

Unsurprisingly, many parents creating food art have found swathes of fans online, with some of them having hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.

A Malaysian mother (@leesamantha) who has been creating food art since 2008 has over 600,000 followers. Of course, it helps that she's also a qualified chef with plenty of expertise to share on her account.

A father from the U.S. (@lunchboxdad) has over 40,000 followers constantly keeping an eye out for his delightful-looking lunchboxes and mini tutorials on how he creates his art.

If you're just itching to see more food art, here are a few more accounts you might want to check out:

If you're a parent with kids who are extremely picky when it comes to food, browsing through these Instagram profiles may just be the thing to kickstart healthy eating habits at home.
