Adele made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut on October 24, and in between delivering a heartfelt opening monologue and providing plenty of laughs during sketches, she managed to sneak in a mini vocal performance — in the most extra way possible.

The episode, which also spotlighted H.E.R. as the musical guest, featured a parody of The Bachelor, which is a theme that SNL has explored in the past. In this version, the contestants seeking the final rose — all named Hannah, FYI — were going toe to toe with the actual Adele.

But instead of wowing Bachelor “Ben K.” (portrayed by series regular Beck Bennett) with her star power, Adele’s caricature of herself was the epitome of the saturated drama you’d expect from the ABC franchise. Except in addition to the usual antics (“Can I steal you for a minute?”), Adele expressed the full range of emotion through some of her greatest hits.

Throughout the skit, the singer-songwriter managed to interrupt the scene with iconic verses of “When We Were Young,” “Rolling in the Deep,” and “Hello,” the last of which she belted out while hiding in the shrubs outside the Bachelor Mansion. But most notably, she brought the sketch to its grand finale with a powerful rendition of “Someone Like You,” turning the SNL set into her personal concert stage for a brief moment.

The brief return to Adele’s greatest hits undoubtedly has fans wondering when the singer will release her fourth studio album — a question for the ages, truly.

Fortunately, Adele addressed the mystery during her opening monologue — well, sort of. “I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being the host,” she said. “Like ‘Why isn’t she the musical guest?’ and stuff like that. And there’s a couple of reasons. My album’s not finished, and I’m also too scared to do both.” We have a feeling that Adele would do a great job if given the task of SNL double duty; here’s hoping she returns to the show’s stage for more laughs — and more songs — in the future.
