Los Angeles Dodgers superstar pitcher Clayton Kershaw passed John Smoltz in the all-time postseason record books in Game 1 of the 2020 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.
Kershaw now has the second-most strikeouts in playoff history.

This is a great milestone for Clayton Kershaw, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest pitchers in MLB history. While he has struggled to win the big games in the playoffs during his career, Kershaw should be extremely proud of this historic accomplishment, as John Smoltz was a monster during his playing career.
The Dodgers weren't even supposed to be in the World Series this year. They fell down 3-1 to the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS and all signs pointed toward Los Angeles flaming out.
However, the Dodgers rallied around each other and won three games in a row to win the NLCS. Now, they are four wins away from winning the 2020 World Series and giving Kershaw his first ring.
The Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, won the 2020 NBA title at Walt Disney World over the Miami Heat. Now, the Dodgers will try and follow the Lakers' lead and win the World Series over the Rays.
It would be pretty special if two Los Angeles teams won their respective titles in the same year.
