What We Can Learn From Street Photography?

Street photography is a genre that requires both a lot of savvy and technique but also a fair dose of patience. Even if you do not do street work, there are a lot of lessons to be learned from the genre that can be applied across pretty much all photographic pursuits. This excellent video essay discusses those lessons and how to use them to improve your own images. 

Coming to you from James Popsys, this great video discusses the lessons we can take from street photography to apply to other genres. By far, I think one of the most important is learning to not equate time and effort invested with the quality of the final image. It can certainly be highly frustrating when we spend a vast amount of time creating a photo, whether in waiting for the shot or post-processing, only for it to not reach the heights we had hoped for in conceiving it, but it is crucial that we be willing to be brutally objective about our work. On the other hand, sometimes, you just get lucky and get a great shot with little effort or investment. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Popsys.
